The duo to equip 3,000 Youth with Digital and Employability Skills.
American Express in India has partnered with Magic Bus India Foundation to strengthen youth employability through digital skills training and industry-aligned workforce development programs. Launched in FY2024–25 as a three-year initiative, the program aims to empower nearly 3,000 young people across Bengaluru and Delhi NCR with technical expertise and essential life skills required to succeed in today’s competitive, technology-driven economy.
Driving Youth Employability in India Through Digital Skills
The partnership focuses on equipping underserved youth with job-ready capabilities in high-demand domains such as:
- Cloud Computing
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cybersecurity
- IT Fundamentals
- Digital and Financial Literacy
In addition to technical skills, the curriculum emphasizes transferable competencies including communication, adaptability, teamwork, problem-solving, interpersonal effectiveness, and decision-making — all critical for long-term career sustainability. During the first year, the initiative has recorded strong training completion rates, successful job placements, and encouraging employment retention outcomes.
Sanjay Khanna, CEO and Country Manager, American Express India, stated that the company remains committed to creating economic opportunity pathways and supporting young professionals in navigating an evolving job market.
The program integrates:
- Structured job-readiness training
- Sector-specific orientation
- Mentorship and interview preparation
- Placement in entry-level customer-centric and technology roles
- Post-placement support for retention and career growth
Jayant Rastogi, Global CEO of Magic Bus India Foundation, emphasized that the collaboration is helping youth from underserved communities gain the confidence, digital capability, and professional readiness necessary to access meaningful employment and contribute to their families and local economies.
One program participant, a Computer Science graduate aspiring to build a career in technology, leveraged the Tech Fundamentals and Employability Skilling Program to gain hands-on exposure to Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence. Alongside technical training, she strengthened her communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. She now works as an Associate Data Engineer at an IT firm — a testament to the initiative’s measurable impact.
Strengthening India’s Workforce for a Digital Economy
With rapid digital transformation reshaping industries, programs like this are crucial for bridging the skills gap in India. By combining corporate support with nonprofit expertise, the initiative builds a scalable model for sustainable workforce development. The partnership underscores how private-sector engagement can play a pivotal role in advancing inclusive growth, enhancing digital literacy, and preparing India’s youth for emerging technology-driven careers.
