Rockstar Games has officially announced a delay for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), moving its release from Fall 2025 to next year.
After months of silence and growing speculation, Rockstar Games has finally broken the news that many Grand Theft Auto fans had been dreading – Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is officially delayed. Despite earlier promises of a Fall 2025 release, the much-anticipated title will now launch on May 26, 2026.

In an official statement, Rockstar acknowledged the disappointment while expressing gratitude for fans’ continued support. “We are very sorry this is later than you expected,” the studio said. “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling… we hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
The statement further elaborated that with every game they have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed its fans expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI will be no exception.
