Massive Investment to Strengthen India’s Electronics Manufacturing Ecosystem.
In a major boost to India’s electronics manufacturing sector, Foxconn Technology Group has committed an investment of ₹15,000 crore (approximately $1.8 billion) to expand its operations in Tamil Nadu. This move aligns with Apple’s India manufacturing strategy and reflects growing investor confidence in India’s role as a global manufacturing hub.
Focus on Advanced Manufacturing and Job Creation
According to Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions, and Commerce, TRB Rajaa, the investment will create over 14,000 skilled engineering jobs in the state. This initiative underscores Tamil Nadu’s growing importance as a center for electronics, semiconductor, and advanced component manufacturing.
Key Highlights
Investment Amount: ₹15,000 crore ($1.8 billion)
Location: Tamil Nadu, India
Jobs Created: 14,000 skilled engineering positions

Government Support: Dedicated Foxconn Desk for approvals and coordination
To ensure smooth execution of the project, the Tamil Nadu government has launched a dedicated “Foxconn Desk”, designed to fast-track approvals and provide seamless support throughout the investment process. This step demonstrates the state’s commitment to supporting foreign direct investment (FDI) and enhancing ease of doing business in India.
Global Expansion Aligned with Taiwan’s Approval
The announcement comes just three months after Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs approved Foxconn’s proposal to invest $2.2 billion across India and the United States. This global expansion plan is part of Foxconn’s strategy to diversify manufacturing outside China and strengthen its supply chain resilience.
Foxconn’s latest investment adds to a growing list of mega projects in India’s manufacturing sector, particularly in Tamil Nadu, which already hosts major electronics assembly plants for brands like Apple and Xiaomi. The initiative also supports the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat campaigns, aimed at reducing import dependence and promoting domestic manufacturing growth.
