The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has taken a big step in its journey by opening its first international campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This marks an important moment in IIFT’s 62-year history and shows how Indian higher education is reaching a global stage.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Dubai campus has received all the required approvals from the Ministry of Education, as well as No Objection Certificates from the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said this move supports the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to make India a global leader in education. He called it a new chapter in India’s education journey and an example of the strong relationship between India and the UAE.
Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said this campus is a turning point for IIFT and shows that India can offer world-class education, especially in international trade. He also praised the institute for continuing to align its teaching and research with India’s development goals.
Professor Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor of IIFT, thanked everyone who supported the project. He said the Dubai campus will help IIFT become a truly world-class institution by offering top-quality education, training, and research in international trade.
This step highlights India’s growing role in the global education space and offers students in the region access to leading trade and business programs.
