Mahindra University Partners with Boltzmann Labs to Advance AI-Driven Life Sciences and Drug Discovery Research

Mahindra

Mahindra University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boltzmann Labs to promote AI-driven life sciences research, computational biology, and drug discovery innovation. The collaboration aims to strengthen academia–industry partnerships while enabling students and researchers to work on real-world scientific challenges.

The agreement will support joint research initiatives in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence in drug discovery, biomedical research, and computational life sciences. By combining academic expertise with industry-led innovation, the partnership seeks to accelerate research outcomes and build a stronger ecosystem for biotechnology innovation.

Joint Research and Doctoral Programs in AI and Biotechnology
Under the partnership, Mahindra University and Boltzmann Labs will collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects and co-supervise doctoral candidates working on advanced research topics. Both institutions will also co-advertise PhD positions and guide scholars on research problems related to AI-powered drug discovery and life sciences.

The collaboration will further introduce specialized courses, workshops, and certification programs for students, faculty members, and industry professionals. These initiatives are designed to expand learning opportunities in computational biology and emerging biotechnology fields.

Access to Advanced Research Infrastructure
A key aspect of the partnership is the shared access to advanced scientific instrumentation and research facilities. Researchers and faculty from both institutions will be able to use specialized tools and laboratory infrastructure to support interdisciplinary research projects.

The MoU also includes provisions for joint publication of research papers, internships, and placement opportunities for students. These initiatives will help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry-driven research in life sciences.

Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration
According to Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University, the collaboration reflects the university’s commitment to building a future-ready research ecosystem where academic knowledge connects directly with real-world applications. Partnering with Boltzmann Labs will allow students and researchers to explore advanced domains such as AI-powered drug discovery and computational life sciences.

Dr. Rajinder Singh Chauhan, Professor and Dean at the Centre for Life Sciences, added that the partnership will strengthen translational research by enabling joint doctoral supervision, collaborative research publications, and hands-on industry exposure for students.

Advancing AI in Life Sciences and Drug Discovery
The partnership highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in life sciences, particularly in accelerating pharmaceutical research and improving efficiency in the drug development process. AI-driven platforms are increasingly used to analyze biological data, predict molecular behavior, and shorten drug discovery timelines.

By combining Mahindra University’s academic research capabilities with Boltzmann Labs’ expertise in AI-powered biotechnology, the collaboration aims to create a dynamic research environment that advances innovation in drug discovery, biomedical science, and life sciences education.
