New Flex subscription model enabling license portability across hardware, virtual, and cloud environments
Riverbed has launched a major update to its network acceleration solutions, designed to help businesses perform better in the fast-growing era of artificial intelligence (AI) and massive data movement. This is Riverbed’s biggest upgrade in seven years and includes ten new SteelHead devices powered by a new version of its acceleration software, RiOS 10.
These solutions aim to improve how quickly and securely data moves between cloud systems, data centers, and edge locations (like branch offices or remote sites). Businesses can now choose a flexible new subscription model called Riverbed Flex, which offers more freedom, lower costs, and easier management of licenses across hardware, virtual, and cloud environments.
With global data increasing by 35% every year, networks are getting overloaded. AI tools rely heavily on fast and smooth data transfers, making network performance more critical than ever. Riverbed’s updated technology helps reduce network congestion, speeds up application performance, and increases resilience for businesses.
The new SteelHead 90 series appliances offer data movement speeds up to 60 Gbps and come in four models for different use cases—from large data centers to edge deployments. RiOS 10 software boosts performance and adds advanced security features like post-quantum cryptography and confidential computing.
Riverbed also launched SteelHead Virtual (for private cloud environments), SteelHead RS (for syncing data quickly between the edge and data center), and SteelHead Cloud (available for AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, and Google Cloud). These solutions can move data across the cloud at up to 20 Gbps, significantly cutting delays and costs.
Experts say that as AI grows, strong network performance is no longer optional—it’s essential. Riverbed’s new tools are built to meet this need by offering greater speed, flexibility, and security.
With Riverbed Flex, customers can transfer licenses across platforms at no extra cost, scale up or down as needed, and protect their investments even as newer technologies emerge.
