SanDisk Launches World’s Smallest 1TB USB-C Flash Drive

The new Sandisk Extreme Fit Brings Plug-and-Stay High-Speed Storage.

SanDisk has officially launched the SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive, which the company claims is the world’s smallest high-capacity 1TB Type-C flash drive. The new device is designed for users who need ultra-compact, high-speed portable storage that can stay plugged into a laptop or tablet without adding bulk.

SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C: A Compact “Plug-and-Stay” Storage Solution
According to SanDisk, the Extreme Fit USB-C flash drive follows a unique “plug-and-stay” concept. The drive is so compact that it can remain inserted into a USB-C port permanently, functioning as a seamless storage extension for your laptop, MacBook, or tablet. The company says this is ideal for users who frequently transfer large files, edit media, or back up important data without carrying bulky external SSDs.

The new SanDisk drive is available in multiple storage variants — 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and a top-end 1TB model, which SanDisk touts as the smallest of its kind in the world.

Design and Build
Based on product images shared by the company, the SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C features a minimalist L-shaped design. When plugged into a laptop, it sits slightly upright instead of protruding horizontally, keeping the connection nearly flush with the device’s body. This discreet profile minimizes accidental knocks and allows users to close their laptop lids without removing the drive.

Weighing just 3 grams, the drive measures 0.73 x 0.54 x 0.63 inches, making it one of the most compact USB-C drives available today.

Performance and Speed
The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive supports the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, delivering sequential read speeds of up to 400MB/s. This enables faster data transfer for high-resolution photos, 4K videos, and large project files compared to traditional USB 2.0 or older USB 3.0 drives.

Its USB-C connector ensures universal compatibility across modern devices including Windows laptops, Apple MacBooks, iPads, and Android smartphones that feature USB-C ports.

Compatibility and System Requirements
Windows PCs: Windows 10 or newer
Apple Mac: macOS 12 or newer
iPads: iPadOS 15 or newer
The drive is also backward-compatible with older USB standards when used with adapters.
SanDisk Memory Zone App Integration

The SanDisk Extreme Fit works seamlessly with the SanDisk Memory Zone app for Windows and macOS. The app allows users to:
Manage and organize files
Automatically back up photos, videos, and documents
Free up storage space on connected devices
Restore data from previous backups when needed

This makes it an ideal choice for professionals and content creators who need automated file management and secure data backups.

Availability and Pricing
The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive is currently available in the United States via SanDisk’s official online store. Although the company has not yet listed it on the SanDisk India website, it is expected to launch in additional regions soon.
