Sharjah Digital Department Launches Data and AI Competency Development Programme with PwC to Boost Government Digital Transformation

The Sharjah Digital Department (SDD), in collaboration with PwC Academy Middle East, has officially launched the Data & AI Competency Development Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at training government employees in data management, data governance, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

The programme is part of SDD’s ongoing strategy to strengthen government digital capabilities, empower employees with AI-driven skills, and build a sustainable digital ecosystem aligned with global best practices. Running from September to November 2025, the training covers data visualization, data processing, data analysis, and foundational database programming, preparing participants to apply AI and data governance frameworks in decision-making and public service delivery.

The launch event was attended by HE Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD; HE Eng. Lamia Al Hussan Al Shamsi, Director of SDD; and Muzoun Balhaif Alnuaimi, Head of the Data Management Department at SDD, alongside representatives from PwC Academy Middle East and participating Sharjah government entities.

In her remarks, Muzoun Alnuaimi emphasized the programme’s role in empowering Sharjah’s government workforce:

“This initiative marks a key step in our mission to embed a culture of data, advance AI adoption, and strengthen digital leadership across government entities. By equipping employees with AI-powered data management tools, we are driving sustainable transformation and preparing Sharjah to lead in the global digital economy.”

Taimur Ali Mir, Partner at PwC and Head of Professional Qualifications at PwC Academy ME, added:
