Tech Mahindra’s Global Chess League Partners with AWS

To Deliver AI-Powered Smart Broadcasting for Season 3 in Mumbai starting from today.

Tech Mahindra’s Global Chess League (GCL), a joint initiative with FIDE, has announced a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to power next-generation smart broadcasting for chess fans worldwide.

Using AWS’s advanced cloud, AI, and analytics capabilities, GCL will enhance real-time game updates, multilingual commentary, AI-driven insights, interactive fan zones, and global streaming quality as Season 3 kicks off in Mumbai from December 13–24, 2025. As the world’s first official franchise-based chess league featuring mixed-gender teams, GCL aims to modernize the sport using cutting-edge technology.

By deploying AWS Elemental MediaLive, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon CloudFront, and other cloud-native services, GCL is replacing traditional broadcasting systems with scalable, low-latency, AI-powered infrastructure designed for global audiences. This enables seamless encoding, real-time video processing, and dynamic data overlays that give fans deeper context behind every move.

Peeyush Dubey, Chairperson of the Global Chess League, emphasized that AWS enables GCL to “build a smart broadcasting backbone that mirrors the intelligence and precision of chess itself.” The partnership will introduce enhanced storytelling formats, AI-powered analysis, and new fan engagement programs such as GCL Creators, GCL SuperFans, Road to GCL, and GCL Contenders on Chess.com.

Praveen Sridhar, Head of Partner Business at AWS India & South Asia, said the collaboration brings “real-time analytics and immersive viewing experiences that connect fans to the game like never before.”

Season 3 will feature elite global players competing in a mixed-team rapid format across six franchises in a double round-robin structure. This partnership strengthens GCL’s vision of transforming chess into a tech-enabled global sport by blending tradition with cutting-edge broadcasting innovation.
