AI-powered Face Check feature strengthens Tinder’s fight against bots, scams, and fake accounts in India.
Tinder, the world’s most popular dating app, has launched its Face Check feature in India, reinforcing its commitment to creating a safer and more authentic online dating experience. The new feature uses AI-based face verification to detect fake profiles, eliminate bots, and increase user trust across the platform.
“Face Check is arriving in India at a time when digital authenticity has never been more important,” said Yoel Roth, Senior Vice President of Trust & Safety at Match Group. “Safety features like Face Check add a crucial layer of protection against fraud, impersonation, and catfishing, helping people focus on forming genuine connections.”
How Tinder Face Check Works
The Face Check feature requires new users to record a short video selfie, which is automatically compared to their profile photos to confirm authenticity. Once verified, users receive Tinder’s trusted Photo Verified Badge, signaling that their identity has been confirmed. This helps users make safer matching decisions and enhances overall dating app security.
India is one of Tinder’s fastest-growing markets, and the rollout of Face Check aligns with the app’s broader mission to build a safe, scam-free dating community. According to Tinder’s Modern Dating Report, over one in three Indian users say profile verification is one of the most attractive features on dating apps, while 42% share their meeting plans with friends or family for added security.
Tinder has already introduced more than 20 safety tools in India, including “Are You Sure?”, “Does This Bother You?”, enhanced reporting systems, and ID verification, setting a new benchmark for online dating safety standards.
The Face Check feature further solidifies Tinder’s leadership in AI-powered dating security, ensuring users can meet and connect in a more trusted, authentic, and secure digital environment.
