In a major step towards promoting renewable energy, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group. This agreement aims to create new job opportunities, improve access to modern energy technology, and train a skilled workforce in Uttar Pradesh’s growing green energy sector. The MoU was signed by the state’s Chief Secretary, Manoj Kumar Singh, and will be in effect from 2025 to 2027.
Under this partnership, several key goals have been outlined. These include launching solar energy skill development programs, transferring advanced energy technologies to India, and encouraging business partnerships. The MoU will also help strengthen the solar energy and green hydrogen industries, while encouraging investments and student exchange programs between India and Australia.
At the signing event, Chief Secretary Singh emphasized the state’s goal of generating 22,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power in the coming years. He pointed out that skilled workers will be essential to reach this target. Singh added that this agreement will help Uttar Pradesh become a major hub for renewable energy and support India’s national aim of producing 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy by 2030.
The partnership will also explore new opportunities in green hydrogen production and energy storage, both important areas for sustainable development. Overall, this collaboration is expected to boost innovation, support environmental protection, and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
