WhatsApp is preparing to roll out multi-account support for iPhone users, a highly requested feature that has already launched on Android. According to early findings from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta build released through Apple TestFlight includes the first signs of multi-account switching on iOS, making it possible for users to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device without logging out.
The new update suggests that iOS users will soon be able to switch between profiles directly from the app’s settings, with each account maintaining its own chats, notifications, privacy preferences and personalization settings. Several beta testers have already reported seeing an option to add and switch accounts within WhatsApp’s settings panel, indicating that the feature may be entering broader testing ahead of a public release.
The beta build reportedly adds a new “Account List” page inside the settings menu, and in some cases, a shortcut next to the QR code icon. This interface appears to allow users to add a completely new WhatsApp account or move an existing one—possibly even one previously used on another device or on WhatsApp Business—without needing a second phone. When rolled out, WhatsApp is expected to support at least two active accounts on the same iPhone.
Meta-Verified Usernames to Boost iOS Security
In addition to multi-account switching, WhatsApp is also developing a new Meta-verified username display for unknown contacts on iOS. This feature will show a verified badge when users check an unfamiliar phone number, enhancing safety and helping confirm legitimate identities. The update follows WhatsApp’s ongoing work on usernames and account verification, further strengthening privacy and trust across the platform.
