Adani and Google Unite to Power the Nation’s AI and Green Energy Revolution

Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, has announced a landmark partnership with Google to build India’s largest AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This ambitious project marks a pivotal step in India’s AI and digital infrastructure transformation, combining advanced AI compute capabilities, sustainable energy innovation, and nationwide digital empowerment.

Backed by a massive $15 billion investment (2026–2030), the Google AI Hub will establish a gigawatt-scale data centre network, powered entirely by renewable energy and supported by a high-capacity subsea cable system. The initiative aims to meet the nation’s fast-growing AI computing and cloud infrastructure demands, while driving green energy adoption and data sovereignty.

The AI data campus, being developed in collaboration with AdaniConneX and Airtel, will serve as the cornerstone of India’s emerging AI ecosystem, providing scalable infrastructure for AI-driven enterprises, cloud computing, and data analytics innovation. Alongside the data centre, the project will feature clean energy generation, energy storage systems, and transmission networks to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s energy grid and support India’s net-zero goals.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, hailed the collaboration as a defining moment for India’s digital future. “This partnership with Google is more than an investment—it’s a bold step toward shaping the soul of a rising digital nation. Visakhapatnam is poised to become a global technology hub, fueling innovation, job creation, and inclusive growth for the AI era,” he added.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our partnership with Adani is building the foundation for India’s AI-led transformation. The Google AI Hub will bring advanced cloud and AI infrastructure closer to Indian enterprises, researchers, and creators—empowering them to innovate securely and at scale.”

The initiative is expected to generate tens of thousands of jobs across technology, renewable energy, and construction sectors, while significantly enhancing India’s AI capability, digital inclusion, and cloud readiness. With this collaboration, Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as India’s AI capital, positioning the country as a global leader in artificial intelligence, data innovation, and sustainable digital infrastructure—propelling the vision of Digital India and a green, tech-driven economy into reality.
