Ant International Partners with Google to Advance AI-Powered Agentic Payments Through AP2

With this strategic partnership, Ant International and Google are laying the foundation for a global agentic commerce ecosystem, making AI-driven payments more secure, interoperable, and user-friendly than ever before.

Ant International has announced its role as a launch partner with Google to co-develop the Agent Payments Protocol (AP2). This industry-first framework is designed to set global standards for AI-powered agentic payments, ensuring security, compliance, and interoperability across digital ecosystems.

As AI agents gain traction in agentic commerce—handling bookings, purchases, and transactions on behalf of users—traditional payment systems fall short in authorization, verification, and fraud prevention. Google’s Agent Payments Protocol addresses this challenge by defining how AI agents can transact reliably, with user intent verification, traceable transactions, and accountability built into every step.

Leveraging its leadership in alternative payment methods (APMs) and partnerships with 36 leading digital wallets, Ant International brings deep expertise in streamlining APM checkouts, fraud detection with AI, and compliance-focused transaction models. Its unique payment mandate model strengthens traceability, dispute resolution, and compliance—critical for scaling AI commerce platforms worldwide.

One of the first real-world applications will be seen in Alipay+ Voyager, Ant International’s AI-powered travel assistant launched in July 2025. Using AP2 under the Agent2Agent protocol, Alipay+ Voyager will enable multi-agent collaboration—allowing sub-agents to book rides, manage credentials, and process payments seamlessly across global ride-hailing platforms.

“Ant International is excited to partner with Google in advancing standards for agentic payments. By combining our expertise in APM and AI-driven financial innovation, we aim to shape the future of commerce where AI agents act as trusted digital assistants, powering merchant growth and transforming consumer experience,” said Jiangming Yang, Chief Innovation Officer of Ant International.

This collaboration also strengthens Ant International’s ties with Google Cloud. Earlier in June 2025, the company launched Alipay+ GenAI Cockpit, an AI-as-a-Service fintech platform integrated with Vertex AI, enabling super apps and fintechs to build scalable, AI-native financial services.

Furthering its innovation drive, Ant International recently introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based agentic payment solution, combining APM checkout, payment mandates, and AI technologies to deliver secure, seamless, and future-ready digital payment experiences.
