Apple to Launch First Touchscreen MacBook Pro with OLED Display and M7 Chip in 2027

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its first-ever MacBook Pro with a touchscreen OLED display, marking a significant shift in the company’s laptop design strategy. According to industry analysts, the new MacBook Pro 2027 will feature on-cell touch technology supplied by Samsung and is expected to debut with Apple’s powerful M7 processor.

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that mass production of the OLED touchscreen panels will likely begin in late 2026, with an official launch scheduled for early 2027. The decision is reportedly influenced by Apple’s long-term study of iPad user behavior, suggesting that touch controls can improve productivity, creativity, and user experience in certain workflows.

The move could also narrow the gap between MacBooks and iPads, two product lines that have traditionally served distinct roles within Apple’s ecosystem. Analysts believe the touchscreen MacBook Pro could redefine how professionals, students, and creators use Apple laptops in hybrid work and digital content creation environments.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also reported on Apple’s OLED MacBook roadmap, initially linking it to the M6 chip but now suggesting the M7 processor will power the new model, delivering advanced performance and energy efficiency.

Speculation continues over whether Apple will integrate features such as a 360-degree hinge, Apple Pencil support, or hybrid tablet-laptop functionality. If introduced, these features could put the MacBook Pro in direct competition with high-end Windows touchscreen laptops like Microsoft’s Surface lineup.

In addition, Apple is working on a budget-friendly MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip, derived from the iPhone 16 Pro series. This entry-level model is expected to be priced around $700, targeting students and casual users. While the first-generation version will not support touchscreen input, analysts predict that the second-generation budget MacBook (2027) could include touchscreen functionality, further expanding Apple’s touch-enabled laptop portfolio.

Apple’s upcoming OLED MacBook Pro with touchscreen signals a new era in MacBook design, blending premium performance with innovative display technology, and positioning Apple to lead the next phase of the laptop market evolution.
