Specialty coffee chain Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters has raised $25 million (INR 220 Cr) in a bridge funding round from existing investors including A91 Partners, Anicut, Verlinvest, and 12 Flags. The fresh capital will help the fast-growing coffee brand expand globally to Dubai and Japan, while also strengthening its retail operations, back-end infrastructure, and bakery facilities in India.
The company announced that a portion of the funds will go towards opening new coffee stores across India and scaling its roasteries and bakery units in Bengaluru and Gurugram. This aligns with Blue Tokai’s vision of becoming one of India’s largest specialty coffee chains, competing with both domestic brands and global players like Starbucks and Tim Hortons.
Blue Tokai cofounder and COO, Shivam Shahi, said, “We are on track for our original goal of INR 1,000 Cr revenue and INR 100 Cr EBITDA by 2027, but given the strong market response, we are accelerating expansion. We’re now targeting 800+ stores and INR 2,000 Cr revenue within the next four years, while aggressively scaling in the UAE and Japan markets.”
This fundraise follows Blue Tokai’s $35 million Series C round in 2023 led by Verlinvest, which fueled deeper penetration in metro cities and tier-I & II markets across India. With the specialty coffee market witnessing massive growth, Blue Tokai aims to solidify its leadership in premium coffee experiences, retail cafés, and artisanal coffee products.
As India’s coffee culture evolves, Blue Tokai’s expansion into international markets like Dubai and Japan marks a significant step toward becoming a global specialty coffee powerhouse.
