Google Extends Fitbit Account Migration Deadline to May 19, 2026

Google

Google has officially postponed the deadline for migrating standalone Fitbit accounts to Google Accounts, offering users more time to complete the transition. According to an update on Fitbit’s support page, the new mandatory migration date is May 19, 2026, extended from the earlier deadline of February 2, 2026.

After May 19, users who have not linked their Fitbit accounts to a Google Account will lose access to Fitbit services. Google has clarified that the migration is designed to ensure continuity and security of users’ health, fitness, and activity data, with no loss of historical information during the transfer.

What Happens If You Don’t Migrate?
Access blocked after May 19, 2026: Non-migrated Fitbit accounts will no longer be usable.
Data download window until July 15, 2026: Users can still download their Fitbit data even after access is blocked.
Permanent deletion after July 15, 2026: Any remaining data associated with non-migrated accounts will be permanently erased.

Why Google Is Pushing the Migration
Google has required new Fitbit users to sign in with Google Accounts for some time, while existing users were allowed to continue with legacy Fitbit logins. The migration consolidates account management under Google’s ecosystem, enhancing data security, privacy controls, and long-term platform support.

This is the second major extension of the migration timeline. Initially planned for 2025, the deadline was later shifted to February 2026, and now to May 2026—reflecting Google’s effort to give users ample time to transition smoothly.

What Users Should Do
Fitbit users are strongly advised to migrate their accounts before May 19, 2026 to avoid service disruption and potential data loss. The extended deadline provides additional breathing room, but delaying beyond the cutoff could result in irreversible consequences.

Bottom line: If you use Fitbit, linking your account to Google sooner rather than later will ensure uninterrupted access and safeguard your fitness data.
