IKEA Launches New Matter-Enabled Smart Home Range With Smart Lighting, Sensors, and Controls to Simplify Affordable Home Automation

IKEA has announced the launch of 21 new smart home products built to support Matter, the universal smart home connectivity standard. The new range focuses on smart lighting, home sensors, and intuitive control devices, marking a major step forward in making smart home technology more affordable, easier to use, and seamlessly compatible across brands.

This launch reflects IKEA’s goal to rebuild its smart home ecosystem from the ground up. The company has spent several years testing the products in real households around the world, gaining insight into how people use smart devices in daily life and what they find complicated or unnecessary. The result is a simplified and more flexible smart home platform designed to grow with the user’s needs.

By supporting Matter, IKEA’s new devices become interoperable with products from other major smart home ecosystems — such as Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and others — allowing users to mix and match smart home brands without compatibility struggles.

“Until now, smart home technology hasn’t been easy enough or affordable enough for many people. This launch brings us closer to helping everyone feel confident getting started,” said David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden.

Key Focus Areas of the New Smart Home Lineup
The updated IKEA smart home portfolio centers around three major product categories that form the foundation of a smart and connected home:
1. Smart Lighting
IKEA is introducing a new generation of smart LED bulbs featuring:

  • Multiple shapes, sizes, and brightness options
  • Dimmable light control
  • Warm-to-cool white light and full RGB color lighting options
  • These lights are designed to create mood-based lighting experiences, from relaxing evenings to productivity-boosting daylight tones.

2. Smart Home Sensors
The new range includes:

  • Motion sensors for hands-free lighting control
  • Air quality and humidity sensors for healthier living environments
  • Water leak detection sensors to prevent home damage
  • These devices aim to bring peace of mind, automation, and energy efficiency to everyday routines.

3. Control and Connectivity
IKEA is also releasing:

  • Smart remotes for easy device control from anywhere in a room
  • An updated smart plug that can turn any device into a smart-enabled one

All devices work with the DIRIGERA smart home hub, which serves as the central controller for the IKEA smart home ecosystem. DIRIGERA can also manage smart home devices from other brands thanks to Matter controller and Matter Bridge capabilities.

A Smarter, More Connected Future at Home
“Our focus has been on keeping things simple—from installation to daily use. This update is about solving real-world home challenges, not just adding more technology,” said Stjepan Begic, Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden.

IKEA confirms this is only the beginning. More devices and new smart categories will be released over time, always with one goal: smart technology that is meaningful, easy to understand, and affordable to everyone. With more than 900 million store visits annually, IKEA believes it is uniquely positioned to introduce practical smart home solutions to everyday households. Local pricing and rollout dates will vary across markets. Customers are encouraged to check with their local IKEA store for exact availability.
