Under the agreement, student progress will be reviewed annually, with the initial intake capped at 20 students per year to maintain academic excellence and strong student outcomes.

Mahindra University (MU) has entered into a strategic international articulation agreement with The Australian National University (ANU), creating a 2+2 study abroad pathway for undergraduate engineering students in India. The collaboration allows students to complete the first two years of their Bachelor’s degree at Mahindra University in Hyderabad, followed by the final two years at ANU in Canberra, graduating with a globally recognised engineering degree from Australia’s top-ranked university.

This international engineering transfer program is designed to provide Indian students with structured global exposure, academic continuity, and access to world-class teaching and research infrastructure.

The 2+2 engineering program covers seven in-demand and future-focused disciplines, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Electronics and Computer Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Nanotechnology

These programs align closely with global workforce needs in AI, advanced manufacturing, robotics, semiconductors, and emerging technologies, enhancing students’ employability and postgraduate opportunities worldwide.

Strengthening Global Academic Collaboration
Commenting on the partnership, Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor, Mahindra University, said, “The Australian National University’s strong research heritage and global academic reputation align closely with Mahindra University’s vision for excellence in engineering education. This agreement creates a high-quality international pathway for our students while deepening academic collaboration and research engagement. The MoU reinforces our commitment to interdisciplinary learning, global exposure, and long-term value creation for both students and faculty.”

Siva Karuturi, Professor and Associate Director (International), School of Engineering, College of Systems and Society, Australian National University, added,
“This partnership enables high-achieving students from Mahindra University to transition into ANU’s engineering majors, which are built on a multidisciplinary systems engineering framework. It reflects our shared commitment to meaningful international education and research collaboration. ANU’s strengths in natural sciences and engineering complement Mahindra University’s interdisciplinary approach, and we look forward to sustained engagement across education and research.”

Designed for Academic Continuity and Student Success
Visalakshi Talakokula, Associate Dean, École Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, emphasized that the program has been carefully structured to ensure academic rigour, quality assurance, and seamless credit transfer. “The partnership provides clear progression pathways for students seeking international exposure while earning a globally recognised engineering qualification. It ensures continuity in curriculum and learning outcomes across both institutions.”

Selective Intake and Future Research Collaboration
Beyond student mobility, the partnership lays the groundwork for broader academic engagement, including faculty exchange, curriculum alignment, joint research initiatives, and long-term institutional collaboration. With this 2+2 program, Mahindra University and ANU are strengthening India–Australia higher education ties, offering students a compelling pathway to international engineering careers, postgraduate study, and global research ecosystems.
