Meta has unveiled a groundbreaking AI-powered voice translation tool for Instagram Reels and Facebook videos, enabling creators to clone their voices in other languages while maintaining lip sync and natural tone. This new AI dubbing technology is designed to help creators expand their reach by breaking language barriers and connecting with global audiences.
How Meta AI Voice Translation Works
The new tool uses advanced artificial intelligence voice cloning and lip sync technology to automatically dub videos. Unlike traditional voiceovers, Meta AI preserves the creator’s original tone, pitch, and delivery, making the dubbed content feel authentic and engaging.
At launch, the tool supports two-way translations between English and Spanish, with Meta confirming plans to add more languages such as French, Hindi, Portuguese, and Japanese in the near future.
The feature is being rolled out to all public Instagram accounts and Facebook creators with over 1,000 followers. However, it won’t initially be available in certain regions, including the European Union, United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, and some U.S. states like Texas and Illinois, due to local data and AI privacy laws.
Easy Activation for Creators
Creators can activate the tool when publishing a Reel by selecting “Translate your voice with Meta AI.” They can also enable lip syncing, ensuring the dubbed version aligns with mouth movements. After processing, creators receive a preview to approve or edit before publishing. A small indicator on the video will notify viewers that Meta AI translation was used.
