Microsoft introduces Mico, advanced memory, health features, and deeper third-party integrations.
Microsoft has officially unveiled its Copilot Fall Update 2025, rolling out one of the most transformative upgrades yet for its AI-powered assistant. The update introduces a lively animated avatar named Mico, long-term memory support, Copilot for Health, and new agentic capabilities in Microsoft Edge — all aimed at making Microsoft Copilot more personal, intelligent, and connected across the ecosystem.
This announcement, shared during Microsoft’s Fall Update event on Thursday, highlights how AI personalization and contextual understanding are at the core of Copilot’s next evolution.
Meet Mico — Microsoft Copilot’s First Animated AI Avatar
At the heart of the update is Mico, short for Microsoft Copilot, an animated AI avatar that gives the assistant a visual personality for the first time.
Mico brings human-like interaction to AI conversations — responding with facial expressions, gestures, and color changes during voice chats. Microsoft describes Mico as a step toward creating “more relatable, supportive AI companions” that users can connect with emotionally.
This move positions Copilot as not just a productivity tool but an AI companion designed to enhance user engagement across Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and the Edge browser.
Long-Term Memory: A Smarter, More Personalized Copilot Experience
The long-term memory feature gives Copilot the ability to remember important details about users — such as preferences, tasks, and recurring topics — for future interactions.
This advancement allows users to pick up conversations seamlessly without re-explaining context, creating a truly intelligent assistant experience. Memory can be viewed, edited, or deleted anytime under Memory & Personalisation settings, ensuring full privacy and control. This update places Microsoft Copilot ahead of competitors like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini, offering persistent AI context that evolves over time.
Real Talk’ and Group Conversations: Making Copilot More Human and Collaborative
Microsoft also introduced a new ‘Real Talk’ mode, designed to make conversations with Copilot more authentic and dynamic. Instead of merely agreeing, Copilot can now challenge assumptions, adjust tone, and encourage deeper discussions — fostering critical thinking and realistic dialogue.
Additionally, the new Group Conversations feature turns Copilot into a collaborative AI workspace. Users can share chat links with up to 32 participants, enabling collective brainstorming, voting, and task management, while Copilot automatically summarizes discussions and keeps the group aligned.
The update also upgrades Copilot Mode in Microsoft Edge with agentic AI capabilities, enabling the assistant to automate web tasks, summarize content, and interact with third-party apps such as Google Drive, Gmail, and Slack. With agentic browsing, Copilot can help users research, organize data, and even book meetings — all within Edge — making it one of the most integrated AI productivity tools on the market.
