OpenAI Offers Free ChatGPT Go Subscription for Indians

One-Year Access Begins November 4 with DevDay Exchange Bengaluru.

OpenAI has announced a major update for its Indian user base—ChatGPT Go, the advanced AI subscription tier, will be available free for one year to all users in India who sign up during a limited-time promotional period beginning November 4, 2025. This exclusive offer coincides with OpenAI’s inaugural DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru, highlighting its India-first strategy as the company accelerates artificial intelligence adoption across the country.

The ChatGPT Go subscription, introduced in India in August, provides premium AI features such as higher message limits, advanced image generation, file uploads, and longer memory for more personalized and context-aware conversations—all powered by OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model. Indian users can access ChatGPT Go for free via the web or mobile app, receiving faster responses and multilingual support, making the platform highly accessible to students, developers, professionals, and creators nationwide.

OpenAI’s leadership stated that this initiative is part of the company’s strong ‘India-first’ commitment and aligns with the national IndiaAI Mission, reinforcing the country’s growing enthusiasm for artificial intelligence as India readies for the AI Impact Summit. Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers in India will also receive 12 months of complimentary access.

According to Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, “The adoption and creativity from our Indian users has been inspiring. We’re offering ChatGPT Go free for a year to make cutting-edge AI accessible and to help more people in India benefit from advanced technology in education, career development, and creative projects

India’s rapid adoption has positioned the country as ChatGPT’s second-largest and one of its fastest-growing global markets. OpenAI noted that paid ChatGPT subscriptions in India more than doubled within the first month of the Go launch, prompting the company to extend this offer and further expand the ChatGPT Go service to nearly 90 global markets.
