Tata Consultancy Services denies cyberattack allegations, reaffirms strong strategic partnership with Marks & Spencer.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has officially denied a UK media report claiming that Marks & Spencer (M&S) ended its IT contract with the Indian tech giant due to a cyberattack-related failure. TCS described the allegations as “misleading” and “factually incorrect.”
The company clarified that the service desk contract mentioned in The Telegraph’s article was a routine renewal tender initiated in January 2025, long before the April 2025 cyber incident, and that M&S’s decision to shift vendors was “unrelated” to any security breach.
TCS emphasized that it does not provide cybersecurity services to M&S, noting that those are handled by another vendor. The IT major confirmed that after a comprehensive internal audit, no vulnerabilities or security gaps originated from its end.
“TCS continues to work on numerous other areas in its role as a strategic partner for M&S and is proud of this longstanding relationship,” the company stated.
Both TCS and Marks & Spencer confirmed that the decision not to renew the helpdesk contract had no connection to the cyber incident, reaffirming their ongoing collaboration in digital transformation and IT innovation.
