UIDAI Launches New Aadhaar App in India

Android

Now Offline Aadhaar Verification, Mobile Number Update, QR Code Login and much more are possible.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially launched the new Aadhaar app in India, introducing a range of mobile-first digital identity services designed for faster, safer, and more convenient everyday use. The updated Aadhaar mobile application allows users to update their Aadhaar-linked mobile number online, perform offline Aadhaar verification, use QR code-based identity verification, and securely share selective Aadhaar details without carrying a physical card.

The new UIDAI Aadhaar app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store (Android) and the Apple App Store (iPhone), making it easily accessible to millions of users across the country.

According to UIDAI, the app has been developed with a “Mobile First” approach, offering seamless access to essential Aadhaar services directly from smartphones.

One of the most requested features—Aadhaar mobile number update online—is now integrated into the home screen, allowing users to update their registered number without visiting an Aadhaar centre. The app also enables users to add and manage Aadhaar profiles for up to five family members, making it especially useful for households managing multiple identities.

A major highlight is offline Aadhaar verification, which eliminates the need to share Aadhaar numbers or photocopies. Through the Selective Share option, users can choose to share only specific details such as name, photograph, date of birth, address, gender, or mobile number, enhancing privacy and data security.

With this offline verification feature, Aadhaar holders can avoid submitting physical copies during hotel check-ins, office onboarding, bank verification, or government services.

Additionally, the app generates a secure Aadhaar QR code, which can be scanned at authorised banks, government offices, and service providers for instant identity authentication—without the need for a physical Aadhaar card.

Overall, UIDAI has focused on creating a secure, user-friendly, and privacy-centric Aadhaar app that works seamlessly across digital ecosystems. The Aadhaar app was initially introduced in November 2025, and with this full-scale rollout, users can now access all features by downloading the latest version on their smartphones.
