YouTube Introduces In-App Messaging

Now Share Videos and Chat Directly Within the App for Enhanced User Experience.

YouTube is currently testing a new built-in messaging feature that allows users to send messages, share videos, and chat seamlessly within the mobile app. This innovative update aims to enhance video sharing and communication by keeping everything in one place.

YouTube has started experimenting with direct messaging, enabling users to share video clips privately and engage in conversations without needing to switch to external apps. According to YouTube’s official support page, users must send invitations to start conversations. Recipients can accept or decline these invites, and the platform provides options to block or report users to maintain a safe community.

This messaging feature adheres to YouTube’s Community Guidelines, ensuring all interactions meet the platform’s standards for respectful and safe communication. The reintroduction of private messaging marks a return of a popular feature that was available from 2017 to 2019 but was later removed.

The ability to privately share videos and chat has been one of the most requested features by YouTube users, and this test could signal a permanent comeback. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development in YouTube’s app functionality, designed to boost user engagement and video sharing convenience.
