YouTube Launches New AI Tools and India Partnerships to Boost Creators, EdTech, Healthcare Training and Digital Knowledge Economy

YouTube

In line with India’s digital safety and online well-being goals, YouTube is expanding First Aid shelves in English and Hindi to surface credible health information on more conditions, helping users quickly find trustworthy medical and health videos.

YouTube has announced a new suite of AI tools, creator features and national partnerships in India to accelerate the country’s creative economy, edtech growth and digital knowledge ecosystem. The updates, revealed at the YouTube Impact Summit in India, aim to support content creators, educators, healthcare professionals and learners while strengthening YouTube’s role in Digital India.

According to new economic impact findings from Oxford Economics, YouTube’s creative ecosystem contributed over ₹16,000 crore to India’s GDP in the last year and supported more than 930,000 full-time equivalent jobs, underlining its role in India’s creator economy and digital jobs landscape.

Focus on India’s Creator and Knowledge Economies

Gunjan Soni, Managing Director, YouTube India, highlighted that YouTube’s impact goes beyond views, driving creator income, small business growth and digital entrepreneurship. Around 63% of monetising creators say YouTube is their primary source of revenue, reinforcing the platform’s importance for influencer marketing, online business and content monetisation in India.

With 98% of Indian users using YouTube for knowledge and information, the platform is positioning itself as a key hub for online learning, skill development and professional training, not just entertainment.

Major Education and Skill Partnerships: IICT and AIIMS

To strengthen India’s creative education and AVGC-XR sector (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality), YouTube is partnering with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT). The collaboration includes expert-led sessions, AI-driven project funding, industry workshops and support to grow IICT’s official YouTube education channel, helping students build careers in animation, gaming, VFX and digital content creation.

YouTube is also partnering with AIIMS to expand access to professional nursing training and medical education through expert-designed video modules on topics such as wound care, infection control and clinical skills. This supports healthcare upskilling, online nursing courses and digital medical training across India.

New AI-Powered Tools for Creators and Learners

YouTube has rolled out a conversational AI tool inside the video player, allowing viewers to ask questions and receive instant answers while watching videos, making learning more interactive and personalised. The feature is currently available in English, with Hindi support coming soon, enhancing AI-driven learning and multilingual education on the platform.

For creators, YouTube is expanding “Edit with AI” in the YouTube Create app, which turns raw footage into a first draft and speeds up video editing, making AI video editing and content production more efficient for Indian YouTubers.

YouTube is also rolling out likeness detection technology for creators in its Partner Programme to identify and request removal of AI-generated or altered deepfake content that misuses their face or likeness, supporting brand safety, creator protection and responsible AI use.

Safety, Digital Well-being and Credible Information

The platform is also introducing tools like daily scrolling limits for YouTube Shorts to promote healthier viewing habits, especially for younger users, supporting digital well-being, screen-time management and safe social media usage. Through these AI innovations, education partnerships and safety features, YouTube aims to strengthen India’s creator economy, online learning ecosystem, digital skilling and inclusive growth, positioning the platform as a key driver of how India learns, earns and creates in the AI era.
