Nutanix Launches Cloud Native AOS for Resilient Data Services in Kubernetes Environments

Thomas Cornely, Nutanix

Nutanix has unveiled Cloud Native AOS, a new solution that extends its robust enterprise data services to cloud-native Kubernetes environments across public clouds, bare-metal edge locations, and data centers—without the need for a hypervisor. This launch enables seamless data mobility and enterprise-grade resiliency for containerized applications running anywhere.

As organizations increasingly adopt Kubernetes and move toward hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, the need for a unified data platform that spans containerized, virtualized, and bare-metal infrastructure has become critical. Cloud Native AOS addresses this gap by providing consistent storage and integrated data services across these environments, simplifying operations and enhancing performance.

By eliminating hypervisor dependency, Cloud Native AOS streamlines storage management and accelerates deployment for Kubernetes-based applications. It enables developers to build portable, resilient cloud-native applications while gaining control over data management through Kubernetes APIs.

Key benefits of Cloud Native AOS include:

Enterprise-Ready Resilience: Delivers integrated disaster recovery and protection for Kubernetes applications across zones, clouds, and on-premises.

Cloud-Native Mobility: Supports seamless application and data migration across sites, including back to on-premises environments.

Integrated Data Control: Offers self-service, API-driven data management tailored for Kubernetes workflows.

Industry leaders like Networld and Bacher Systems have praised the platform for its portability, scalability, and performance, highlighting its potential to transform containerized application environments.

Currently in early access for Amazon EKS, Cloud Native AOS is expected to become generally available this summer, with on-premises bare-metal support following later this year.

According to IDC’s Dave Pearson, the new solution bridges a major operational gap by combining data persistence, disaster recovery, and simplified operations for modern Kubernetes-based applications, aligning cloud-native development with enterprise SLAs.
