Zoom Phone Expands to Six Key Telecom Circles in India
Zoom Phone, which received licensing from India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT), is now operational in six major telecom circles: Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Karnataka (Bengaluru), Andhra Pradesh & Telangana (Hyderabad), Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. This expanded coverage brings Zoom’s cloud-based calling platform to India’s top business and tech hubs, offering businesses a modern, scalable alternative to traditional PBX systems.
Designed for remote and hybrid workforces, Zoom Phone supports inbound and outbound calling over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and is available as an add-on to paid Zoom accounts. Users can acquire native phone numbers through a self-service portal, even in regions where direct service is not yet live.
Zoom, a global leader in unified communications, is strengthening its presence in India with the expansion of Zoom Phone and the official launch of the Zoom Contact Center, signaling a deeper commitment to the Indian market. These developments mark Zoom’s growing footprint in India’s digital communication and cloud telephony landscape.
“Zoom Phone addresses the growing demand for cloud telephony by offering simplicity and modern functionality for distributed workforces. India is an important market for us, and our expansion plans beyond the six key telecom circles demonstrate our commitment to providing customers with a unified work platform. This expansion also reflects the growing traction Zoom Phone is receiving, especially from multinational companies, as businesses in India move away from legacy PBX systems toward more flexible, AI-first collaboration solutions that enhance employee productivity,” said Velchamy Sankarlingam, president of Product and Engineering, Zoom.
Zoom Phone’s powerful capabilities are further elevated by AI-driven features including post-call summaries, voicemail prioritization, and task extraction, all available at no extra charge for eligible users. These intelligent tools streamline workflows, improve productivity, and provide businesses with deeper insights into team communications.
Zoom Contact Center Officially Launches in India
Alongside Zoom Phone, Zoom has also launched the Zoom Contact Center in India. This omnichannel customer engagement platform integrates video, voice, chat, and email, enabling businesses to deliver seamless and personalized support experiences.
With this dual expansion, Zoom is doubling down on India as a strategic market for its unified communication ecosystem, aiming to empower enterprises with scalable, AI-enhanced solutions for collaboration and customer service.
