Airtel Shields 3.5 Million Users across Delhi-NCR with AI Fraud Detection System

Bharti Airtel has announced a major milestone in its fight against online frauds in the Delhi-NCR region. Within just 43 days of launching its AI-powered fraud detection system, the telecom giant has successfully protected over 3.5 million users—demonstrating its commitment to creating a safer digital experience.

The AI-enabled fraud detection system, automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband users, scans over a billion URLs every day across platforms like SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, email, and web browsers. It analyzes links in real time and blocks access to harmful sites in under 100 milliseconds, protecting users from phishing, fake delivery messages, and banking scams.

When a suspicious message—like a fake delivery update with a malicious link—is received, Airtel’s system instantly scans and flags the link. If deemed harmful, the user is redirected to a warning message saying, “Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!” This rapid interception prevents users from falling prey to fraudulent schemes.

Nidhi Lauria, CEO – Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh (West), emphasized Airtel’s proactive approach: “Our AI-driven system protects users without requiring any action from their side. We’re proud to be leading efforts to secure the digital environment for tomorrow.”

In a bid to further digital safety, Lauria also met with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora to showcase Airtel’s fraud prevention system and discuss collaborative cyber security efforts in the region. As one of India’s most digitally active areas, Delhi-NCR faces an increasing risk of online fraud, especially among vulnerable groups like senior citizens, students, homemakers, and first-time smartphone users. Airtel’s system serves as a digital shield for these users, providing protection regardless of their tech-savviness.

The platform also supports fraud alerts in multiple languages, including Hindi—crucial for areas with lower digital literacy. Importantly, this security service operates in the background, requires no downloads or installation, and is completely free.

In a region rapidly adopting digital services—from banking to education—Airtel’s initiative is a timely and critical step toward building a safer online environment for all citizens in Delhi-NCR.
