Microsoft has appointed Amr Kamel as the new General Manager for the United Arab Emirates, succeeding Naim Yazbeck, who will now serve as President of Microsoft Middle East & Africa.
A veteran of nearly two decades at Microsoft, Kamel brings extensive regional experience and a strong track record in driving digital transformation and innovation. In his new role, he will lead Microsoft UAE’s strategic initiatives, with a focus on supporting the country’s national priorities in artificial intelligence, cloud adoption, and digital innovation.
Kamel most recently served as General Manager of Global Partner Solutions across Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In that role, he was pivotal in accelerating Microsoft’s partner ecosystem and advancing cloud-based solutions across diverse markets. He also played a key role in Microsoft’s strategic partnership with UAE-based AI firm G42, helping to launch a sovereign cloud platform tailored to public sector and regulated industries. Kamel will continue to lead the G42 partnership in his new capacity.

Throughout his tenure at Microsoft, Kamel has held senior positions across the Middle East and Africa, including Enterprise Commercial Lead in South Africa, where he led significant growth through enterprise transformation. He is widely respected for his inclusive leadership style and commitment to using technology for social and economic impact.
As General Manager, Kamel will steer Microsoft’s efforts to deepen engagement with the UAE government and private sector, focusing on critical sectors like healthcare, energy, education, and finance. He will also drive Microsoft’s skilling agenda, aiming to equip one million people in the UAE with AI capabilities by 2027.
Kamel’s appointment underscores Microsoft’s continued commitment to advancing innovation, talent development, and digital transformation in the UAE.
