Mahindra University, in collaboration with the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) India Affiliate, has inaugurated South India’s first Global Centre for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This strategic initiative aims to advance global-standard risk education, professional certifications, and industry-focused research in response to the growing complexity of modern enterprise risks.
The Centre, launched by Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chancellor of Mahindra University, alongside Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice-Chancellor, and Hersh Shah, CEO of IRM India Affiliate, will serve as a regional hub for ERM excellence. It will train students, professionals, and executives in global risk management competencies, offering pathways to IRM’s internationally recognized ERM certifications.
Equipped with physical and digital infrastructure, the Centre includes a comprehensive knowledge library, online risk resources, and a networking arena for students, faculty, and industry experts. A Hall of Fame and a structured enterprise risk taxonomy featuring over 300 risk types will support academic research, governance, and practical applications.
The initiative also addresses emerging global risks, including cybersecurity, ESG challenges, climate change, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical uncertainty. Serving as a think tank and training hub, the Centre will support faculty development, policy advocacy, and industry collaboration to promote risk-intelligent leadership.
Speaking at the launch, Anand Mahindra emphasized that risk intelligence is now essential for sustainable growth, while Hersh Shah highlighted that the Centre will democratize high-quality ERM education for South India’s dynamic industries such as IT, manufacturing, finance, infrastructure, and logistics.
By combining Mahindra University’s academic strength with IRM’s global ERM expertise, the Centre is poised to create a new generation of professionals equipped to build resilient organizations and drive risk-ready leadership across India and beyond.
