OPSWAT Partners with NetApp to Enhance File Security and Malware Protection

The integration of its MetaDefender Storage Security with NetApp ONTAP brings together OPSWAT’s advanced file security tools with NetApp’s widely adopted storage platforms to help organizations detect and prevent hidden malware, macro threats, sensitive data leakage, and file-borne vulnerabilities before they reach critical applications or users.

OPSWAT has announced the integration of OPSWAT MetaDefender Storage Security with NetApp ONTAP, enhancing the ability of organizations to identify and block file-borne threats directly at the storage layer. This collaboration strengthens enterprise data protection by enabling secure file handling across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid storage environments without disrupting existing business workflows.

Today, enterprises move enormous volumes of files across storage systems, making storage platforms a critical control point in preventing malware infection, ransomware spread, and data leakage. The integration between OPSWAT and NetApp provides organizations with the ability to scan, sanitize, analyze, and validate files before they are accessed or moved, reducing the risk of hidden threats reaching applications, end users, or critical operational systems.

“Organizations around the world rely on the NetApp data platform every day to store and manage high-value data. By integrating advanced virus scanning and file-security capabilities from leading partners like OPSWAT, we strengthen our position as the most secure storage platform available. This gives customers more choice in how they prevent file-borne threats, maintain compliance, and protect core operations from evolving cyber risks,” said Spencer Sells, Vice President of Global Alliances at NetApp.

The integration introduces a multi-layered security architecture into NetApp ONTAP environments, powered by OPSWAT’s core technologies including Multiscanning, Deep CDR (Content Disarm and Reconstruction), Proactive DLP (Data Loss Prevention), patented vulnerability assessment, and adaptive sandbox analysis. These capabilities work together to detect known and unknown malware, remove exploit payloads from files, prevent sensitive information leakage, and identify software supply-chain vulnerabilities — all while maintaining operational performance.

“Customers want strong security controls that do not slow down business. By integrating MetaDefender Storage Security directly into NetApp ONTAP, both on-prem and in the cloud, we allow organizations to stop threats at the storage layer and meet compliance and audit requirements, without requiring workflow changes or additional infrastructure,” said George Prichici, Vice President of Products at OPSWAT.

MetaDefender Storage Security is designed for flexibility, supporting SMB, NFS, and SFTP, making it simple to deploy in diverse enterprise environments and scalable for large data ecosystems.

NetApp continues to lead as an intelligent data infrastructure provider, offering unified storage and integrated data services built to support the world’s most demanding workloads across major public clouds. Together, OPSWAT and NetApp provide organizations with a stronger, more secure approach to managing files across distributed and hybrid environments, helping ensure data trust, operational resilience, and cyber-threat protection.
