Apple Launches macOS Tahoe 26.2 with Edge Light Video Feature and Enhanced Apps for Mac Users

With macOS Tahoe 26.2, Apple continues to refine the Mac experience with smarter video tools, improved productivity, and stronger security.

Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.2, the latest update to its macOS Tahoe operating system, bringing a range of new features, performance improvements, and security updates for compatible Macs. Available now via Software Update in System Settings, the release arrives roughly five weeks after macOS Tahoe 26.1.

The standout addition in macOS Tahoe 26.2 is Edge Light, a new video call enhancement designed to improve camera quality in low-light environments. Edge Light uses the Mac’s display to softly illuminate the user’s face, delivering a ring-light–style effect without requiring external accessories—ideal for video conferencing, remote work, and virtual meetings.

Users can customize the brightness, width, and colour temperature of Edge Light to match their surroundings. Apple has also introduced mouse awareness, which automatically pulls back the illuminated area when the cursor moves, ensuring on-screen content remains visible. On supported Macs released in 2024 or later, Edge Light can activate automatically when a video call starts in low ambient light.

Beyond video calls, macOS Tahoe 26.2 introduces meaningful updates across several built-in macOS apps. The Podcasts app now features auto-generated chapters, making long episodes easier to navigate, while clickable podcast links within episodes allow faster discovery of related content.

Gaming also receives upgrades, including improved Games library filters, enhanced controller support, and real-time challenge score banners that highlight leaderboard changes during gameplay.

Additional system-wide enhancements include improved AirDrop security with verification codes for file sharing with unknown contacts, faster navigation in Apple News via new sidebar section links, and expanded functionality in Freeform, which now supports dynamic tables for text, images, documents, and drawings. Apple Music now highlights the Favourite Songs playlist in Top Picks, alongside bug fixes addressing playback issues.

Edge Light is available on Apple silicon Macs running macOS Tahoe 26.2 or later. Automatic activation requires a Mac introduced in 2024 or newer. The feature supports the built-in camera, Continuity Camera, and compatible external cameras.
