‘HackSmart’ To Drive AI and Cloud Innovation in Clean Mobility.

Battery Smart has successfully concluded its first-ever technology hackathon, HackSmart, organised in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The initiative reflects Battery Smart’s growing focus on AI, cloud computing, and data-driven innovation to accelerate India’s clean mobility ecosystem.

HackSmart was designed to address real-world EV and battery technology challenges, with a strong emphasis on battery intelligence, electric vehicle operations, IoT systems, and cloud-scale infrastructure. The hackathon received overwhelming participation from across the country, attracting over 1,000 registrations, out of which 200+ participants were shortlisted. These participants represented some of India’s top engineering institutions, including IITs, BITS, NITs, and leading universities.

The event began on January 31, 2026, and concluded with an intense 24-hour coding and product development sprint, supported by engineers and mentors from Battery Smart and AWS. Teams built innovative solutions using AI, machine learning, and cloud-native architectures, which were evaluated through live demos by a jury comprising Battery Smart’s senior leadership and technology experts. Based on innovation, scalability, and execution, five top teams were selected as winners.

Commenting on the initiative, Tejasav Khattar, Senior Vice President – Engineering, Data and Product at Battery Smart, said that HackSmart highlights the company’s commitment to advancing clean energy and electric mobility while nurturing India’s innovation talent. He noted that the ideas showcased during the hackathon demonstrated strong potential for AI- and ML-driven battery management, EV operations optimisation, and grid readiness.

The hackathon concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and networking session, giving participants direct exposure to Battery Smart’s engineering and leadership teams. The top three teams received attractive non-cash prizes such as a PlayStation 5, GoPro Hero 12, and a Marshall speaker, along with cash prizes of up to ₹2 lakh and pre-placement interview opportunities at Battery Smart.

With a rapidly expanding footprint of 1,600+ battery swap stations across 50+ cities and a network of 270,000+ IoT-enabled batteries, Battery Smart continues to invest in cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and AI-led solutions. Initiatives like HackSmart reinforce the company’s vision to build a future-ready engineering talent pipeline while supporting India’s mission for sustainable transportation and clean mobility at scale.
