Core42 has appointed Sherif Tawfik as its new Chief Business Officer (CBO), marking a strategic move to expand its global commercial operations and accelerate adoption of sovereign AI cloud solutions.
Based in Abu Dhabi, Core42 is strengthening its leadership team as it scales its presence in international markets. In his new role, Tawfik will oversee all revenue-generating functions, including global sales, marketing, partnerships, business development, and managed services. His primary focus will be to drive enterprise and government adoption of Core42’s sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure platforms.
Tawfik brings nearly three decades of experience in the global technology industry, including over 25 years at Microsoft, where he held senior leadership roles across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He has a proven track record in scaling technology businesses, building strategic partnerships, and enabling large-scale cloud and AI transformation initiatives.
Most recently, he served as Chief Partnership Officer for the G42–Microsoft Global Alliance, where he played a key role in advancing sovereign cloud deployments and responsible AI adoption across multiple regions. His experience in aligning global technology ecosystems is expected to strengthen Core42’s international growth strategy.
According to Core42 leadership, Tawfik’s appointment aligns with the company’s ambition to become a leading provider of sovereign AI infrastructure. His expertise will support deeper engagement with governments, enterprises, and ecosystem partners looking to deploy AI at production scale.
Commenting on his new role, Tawfik highlighted the growing demand for trusted and sovereign AI infrastructure as organizations move from experimentation to real-world deployment. He emphasized his focus on expanding Core42’s global footprint and enabling customers to build secure, scalable AI-driven systems.
In addition to his corporate experience, Tawfik is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Fusion Minds AI, which focuses on responsible AI adoption and sustainability-driven innovation.
