N. Chandrababu Naidu to Launch India’s First Quantum Testing Ecosystem on World Quantum Day

India is set to take a major leap in deep-tech innovation as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu prepares to launch the country’s first quantum test and certification ecosystem on April 14, aligning with World Quantum Day.

The initiative, part of the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley project, aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub for quantum research and innovation. The ecosystem will feature advanced quantum testing facilities at SRM University and Medha Towers in Gannavaram.

The launch includes two key quantum test beds: a 1Q test bed developed by Qubitech at Medha Towers, and a 1S superconducting test bed at SRM University. These facilities operate at temperatures close to absolute zero (around -273°C), enabling precise testing and validation of quantum computing components.

Officials describe these as “Quantum Reference Facilities,” designed to provide critical infrastructure for testing and certifying quantum hardware—an area where India has had limited capabilities so far. The move is expected to strengthen the country’s position in the global race for quantum computing, cryptography, and advanced communications.

The SRM University test bed will function as an open-access platform, allowing researchers, startups, and enterprises to experiment with quantum technologies. This is expected to accelerate innovation, foster collaboration, and support the development of a robust domestic quantum ecosystem.

Developed using largely indigenous components, the initiative aligns with India’s push for self-reliance in deep-tech sectors. Leading institutions such as Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science, and Defence Research and Development Organisation have contributed technical expertise.

With this launch, Andhra Pradesh aims to position Amaravati as a global destination for quantum innovation, supporting research, industry collaboration, and next-generation technology development.
