Spotify has revised its subscription pricing in India, reducing the cost of its Premium Standard and Student plans while discontinuing the Premium Lite tier. The updated pricing structure is now live on Spotify’s official website and is aimed at simplifying the platform’s subscription offerings for Indian users.
Under the revised pricing, Spotify Premium Standard now costs Rs 139 per month, down from its earlier price of Rs 199. Interestingly, the new Standard plan pricing matches the previous cost of the Premium Lite plan, which has now been discontinued by the company.
Spotify has also reduced the price of its Student subscription plan in India. The plan, previously priced at Rs 99 per month, is now available for Rs 69 per month, making premium music streaming more affordable for students.
Explaining the change, Spotify said the revised pricing is based on market opportunities and is intended to provide users with greater value and more accessible subscription options.
Regarding the discontinuation of the Lite plan, Spotify stated that existing Premium Lite users in India are being transitioned to the Premium Standard plan at the same price point. The company confirmed that users have already been informed about the migration process. Meanwhile, Spotify’s Premium Platinum plan continues to remain available at Rs 299 per month and includes additional premium features for users seeking an upgraded listening experience.
The updated subscription pricing currently applies to new subscribers. Existing users can continue with their current legacy subscription plans unless they choose to switch to the newly revised tiers. Spotify’s earlier subscription lineup included Individual, Duo, and Family plans priced between Rs 139 and Rs 229 per month.
With the latest pricing revision, Spotify appears to be strengthening its position in India’s highly competitive music streaming market by offering more affordable premium plans and simplifying its subscription ecosystem.
