DDA Hosts First DDA Green Expo 2026

DDA Green Expo 2026

Multiple MoUs Signed to Advance Sustainable Urban Development in Delhi.

The first-ever DDA Green Expo 2026 was inaugurated at Baansera by Delhi’s Hon’ble Lt Governor Shri V.K. Saxena, marking a major milestone in the capital’s sustainable urban development journey. Organised by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the two-day expo reinforces Delhi’s commitment to green infrastructure, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven public spaces.

The Lt Governor also unveiled the DDA Greens logo and the DDA Greens Year Book 2026, symbolising a renewed push toward environmental stewardship and ecological restoration in the national capital.

‘Beyond Growth: Reimagining Urban Futures’
The expo, themed “Beyond Growth: Reimagining Urban Futures,” brings together senior government leaders, urban planners, climate experts, sustainability professionals, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on green urban transformation, climate-adaptive infrastructure, and nature-based solutions.

Addressing the gathering, the Lt Governor said, “The expo reaffirms our commitment to a greener, healthier, and more hopeful future for Delhi.” He emphasised that the initiative celebrates not only policy efforts but also everyday citizens who contribute to environmental sustainability through tree plantation, biodiversity protection, and community green initiatives.

Highlighting the transformation of Baansera from a degraded and polluted site into a thriving green zone, he described it as a “stellar example of land reclamation, ecological restoration, and sustainable urban planning.”

Strategic MoUs to Transform Delhi’s Public Spaces
A major highlight of the DDA Green Expo 2026 was the signing of several strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at redefining Delhi’s parks as living laboratories for sustainability, research, culture, and community engagement.

Key Partnerships Announced:

  • National School of Drama (NSD) – To conduct community theatre workshops and children’s theatre programmes in DDA parks, transforming them into cultural learning spaces.
  • University of Delhi – For urban ecological research, student-led fieldwork, and academic engagement in park ecosystems.
  • Delhi Technological University (DTU) – To integrate technology-driven sustainability solutions and youth innovation in park planning and management.
  • National Medicinal Plants Board – To establish herbal gardens of national and state importance and medicinal plant nurseries, enhancing biodiversity and conservation awareness.
  • WWF-India – To develop Citizens’ Nature Hubs at Asita, promoting environmental education and community stewardship.
  • Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) – DDA will serve as a knowledge partner for sustainable urban planning, heritage-sensitive development, and nature-based infrastructure practices.

These collaborations signal a transformative shift in Delhi’s green infrastructure strategy, positioning DDA parks as hubs for climate education, ecological research, cultural programming, and youth engagement.

The DDA Green Expo 2026 features high-impact panel discussions on:

  • Extreme heat mitigation and urban heat island reduction
  • Flood resilience and water-sensitive urban design
  • Nature-based infrastructure solutions
  • Circular food systems and urban sustainability
  • Green financing models, including CSR and public-private partnerships (PPP)

A key panel, “Designing for Climate-Responsive Cities,” will focus on energy-efficient urban design, climate-adaptive public spaces, and resilient infrastructure planning.

DDA’s Expanding Role as Environmental Trustee
DDA Vice Chairman Shri N. Saravana Kumar highlighted that beyond its mandate as master planner and developer, DDA serves as Delhi’s Environmental Trustee, ensuring ecological balance, green cover expansion, and sustainable land use planning.

Through DDA Greens, the authority aims to integrate ecology, innovation, and community participation into Delhi’s urban future—aligning with national climate action goals and smart city development initiatives.

With the launch of DDA Green Expo 2026 and multiple institutional partnerships, Delhi takes a decisive step toward building climate-resilient cities, expanding biodiversity corridors, and reimagining public spaces as engines of environmental learning and sustainable development. The initiative positions Delhi as a model for urban sustainability, green governance, and collaborative city planning in India.
