MediaTek Unveils Big AI Plans at Computex 2025 with Smart Devices, 5G Gateway, and NVIDIA Partnership

At Computex 2025, MediaTek is sharing its latest ideas and innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), all under the theme “AI for Everyone: From Edge to Cloud.”

On May 20, the first day of the event, Dr. Rick Tsai, MediaTek’s Vice Chairman and CEO, will give a keynote speech. He’ll talk about how AI, 6G, and both edge and cloud computing are changing the world, and how MediaTek wants to bring smart, connected technology to everyone.

Joe Chen, President and COO of MediaTek, said the company is excited to show how its years of experience in connectivity, computing, and multimedia have come together to create powerful new solutions. MediaTek’s goal is to bring AI into more everyday applications and help make generative AI more widely available.

What’s New from MediaTek at Computex 2025
Hybrid Computing
To solve the problem of isolated systems in AI, MediaTek has come up with a new idea called hybrid computing. This combines computing power with communication systems so that different AI tools can work better together and share information more smoothly. As part of this, MediaTek is introducing the world’s first 5G Generative AI Gateway. This device brings together, 5G wireless technology with Built-in generative AI.

This offers fast performance, strong privacy, high bandwidth and low delay (latency). The device has already gone through test runs with a top telecom company and has won the Computex Best Choice Award.

Smart Homes with AI Assistants
MediaTek is also showing off its idea of a fully connected smart home. Using something called AI Hub, it connects home devices that can work together with built-in AI. These AI agents can act like personal assistants, helping with daily tasks and learning your preferences.

Working with NVIDIA
MediaTek is teaming up with NVIDIA to create a special kind of AI system called the “edge cloud.” This includes:
RAN-cloud: Combining mobile network technology (RAN) with computing power.
Device cloud: Using smart devices with built-in computing to share the workload.

Together, these systems will improve how quickly and efficiently AI can work close to the user — not just in distant data centers. MediaTek is aiming to bring AI everywhere — from smart homes to edge networks — by combining its own tech with 5G, strong partnerships (like with NVIDIA), and a bold new vision of hybrid computing.
