Apple Unveils New iPad Pro with M5 Chip

The M5 iPad Pro is now available for pre-order and will hit Apple Stores globally post-Diwali on October 22.

Apple has officially launched the next-generation iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, ushering in a new era of AI-driven performance, faster graphics, and unmatched creative power. The new iPad Pro (M5) sets a benchmark for portable computing, offering the most advanced AI capabilities, ultrafast performance, and immersive user experience in Apple’s tablet lineup.

The Apple M5 chip represents a major technological breakthrough, designed to deliver up to 3.5x faster AI performance than M4 and 5.6x faster than M1, making it the most powerful iPad ever created. Built on Apple’s cutting-edge silicon architecture, M5 includes a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core and a 16-core Neural Engine, enabling lightning-fast on-device AI processing for image generation, video editing, machine learning, and creative workflows.

The new iPad Pro M5 comes in 11-inch and 13-inch variants, available in Space Black and Silver, featuring Apple’s stunning Ultra Retina XDR display. It supports Wi-Fi 7 with the N1 wireless chip and C1X modem for 50% faster cellular connectivity—perfect for users who rely on mobile AI computing and cloud workflows on the go.

According to John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, “The M5 chip pushes the boundaries of what iPad can do — redefining performance, graphics, and AI capabilities. With iPadOS 26, ultra-fast wireless, and breakthrough creative tools, the new iPad Pro delivers an experience like never before.”

The M5’s ray-tracing engine enhances 3D rendering, gaming, and visual realism, offering up to 6.7x faster 3D rendering compared to M1 and 1.5x faster than M4. Users can expect smoother workflows in Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Illustrator, and Octane X, making it ideal for designers, editors, developers, and architects who demand high-end performance.

Key performance gains include:

  • 6.7x faster 3D rendering in Octane X vs M1 models
  • 6x faster video transcoding in Final Cut Pro for iPad
  • 4x faster AI image generation in Draw Things
  • 3.7x faster AI video upscaling in DaVinci Resolve

Running on iPadOS 26, the new iPad Pro introduces next-gen AI and productivity tools, including Apple Intelligence, Live Translation, Image Playground, and advanced multitasking features that enhance creativity and workflow automation. The system is optimized for apps leveraging Apple’s Foundation Models framework, delivering real-time AI capabilities securely and efficiently on-device.

With the launch of the iPad Pro (M5), Apple continues to dominate the AI-powered tablet market, combining cutting-edge silicon, incredible performance, and unrivaled user experience—making it the ultimate tool for creators, professionals, and AI enthusiasts alike.
