UnionPay International (UPI) and Amazon Payment Services announced a major strategic collaboration to expand UnionPay card acceptance across key markets in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The partnership covers the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon, significantly strengthening digital payment options for merchants and millions of UnionPay cardholders.
The agreement was signed by Luping Zhang, General Manager of UnionPay International Middle East, and Pablo Londono, Managing Director of Amazon Payment Services, in the presence of senior leadership from both organizations. This collaboration aims to enhance secure, seamless, and flexible e-commerce and digital payment experiences across the fast-growing MENA market.

Once fully deployed, millions of UnionPay users will enjoy a frictionless payment journey across a wide network of regional online businesses. Merchants, in turn, gain access to UnionPay’s massive global customer base across 80+ countries and regions, unlocking new cross-border commerce opportunities
