Google Launches Gemini AI App for Mac

Gemini app

Google has officially launched its native Gemini app for macOS, bringing AI-powered assistance directly to desktop users. The new app aims to deliver seamless access to AI tools, making it easier for Mac users to boost productivity with just a keyboard shortcut.

The Gemini app integrates deeply into macOS, allowing users to open a floating chat interface using Option + Space, or switch to a full-screen mode with Option + Shift + Space. Users can also pin the app to the Dock or Menu Bar for quick access.

With Gemini on Mac, users can perform a wide range of tasks, including drafting reports, fact-checking information, analyzing on-screen content, reviewing documents, and even building spreadsheets. The app also supports advanced creative features like image and video generation.

This release positions Gemini alongside competing AI platforms from OpenAI and Anthropic, making Google one of the last major players to introduce a dedicated macOS AI application.

The Gemini app is now rolling out globally and is available for devices running macOS 15 or later. Users can download it directly from Google’s official website at no additional cost.

Google noted that this is just the beginning, with plans to evolve Gemini into a more proactive and personalized desktop assistant in the coming months.
