KPIT Technologies has announced plans to acquire Israeli automotive cybersecurity company Cymotive in a deal valued between $60 million and $120 million. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening KPIT’s capabilities in AI-driven automotive cybersecurity, software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and connected mobility solutions.
Founded in collaboration with CARIAD, the automotive software arm of the Volkswagen Group, Cymotive specializes in vehicle cybersecurity, threat detection, automotive compliance, and connected car protection. The company provides end-to-end cybersecurity solutions across the entire vehicle lifecycle, helping automakers secure next-generation vehicles against evolving cyber threats.
Under the agreement, KPIT will initially invest $10 million in preference capital, subject to regulatory approvals and performance milestones. The company plans to gradually acquire the remaining stake in phases, with the goal of owning 100% of Cymotive by mid-2029. The final valuation will depend on Cymotive’s future revenue growth and earnings performance.
The acquisition comes as the global automotive industry rapidly transitions toward AI-defined vehicles, autonomous driving systems, electric vehicles (EVs), and connected mobility ecosystems. As vehicles become increasingly software-driven, cybersecurity has emerged as a critical priority for automakers to ensure safety, compliance, and consumer trust.
Cymotive’s expertise in intrusion detection, threat modelling, automotive security operations, and regulatory compliance is expected to complement KPIT’s existing mobility technology portfolio. The integration will also strengthen KPIT’s Beacon platform, enabling automotive manufacturers to embed cybersecurity across vehicle design, development, deployment, and operations.
Industry analysts view the move as part of a broader trend where automotive technology companies are investing heavily in cybersecurity, AI-powered vehicle platforms, and software engineering capabilities. The growing adoption of connected cars, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and autonomous systems has significantly increased the need for advanced automotive cyber protection solutions.
Cymotive will continue operating under its existing leadership team while leveraging KPIT’s global delivery network and automotive engineering expertise. The partnership is expected to accelerate innovation in secure mobility technologies and intelligent transportation systems.
As demand rises for connected vehicle security, automotive AI solutions, and smart mobility platforms, the acquisition positions KPIT as a stronger player in the rapidly evolving global automotive technology and cybersecurity market.
