Google Cloud and Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) have renewed their long-term Master Framework Agreement (MFA), reinforcing a strategic alliance designed to accelerate the nation’s shift toward secure cloud adoption, advanced AI solutions, and large-scale digital transformation. Announced during MWC Doha, the renewed partnership establishes a future-ready technology foundation aligned with the ambitions of Qatar National Vision 2030, including innovation-led growth, smart government services, and a competitive digital economy.
The expanded agreement builds upon the strong momentum achieved since the launch of the Google Cloud Doha region, which has rapidly become a central hub for modernizing Qatar’s public sector. With MCIT’s continued commitment to localizing advanced technologies and enabling government-wide cloud adoption, ministries and national enterprises are now benefiting from secure, scalable cloud infrastructure, AI-driven analytics, and generative AI capabilities designed to enhance efficiency, automation, and service quality.
Sami Mohammad Al-Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations at MCIT, noted that Google Cloud’s contributions have been pivotal in advancing Qatar’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that the renewed agreement will further equip government entities with cutting-edge AI, secure cloud solutions, and modern data analytics tools, enabling improved service delivery and accelerated digital progress across all sectors.
The renewal ceremony at MWC Doha was followed by a keynote address from Ghassan Kosta, Regional General Manager for Google Cloud in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Iraq, who emphasized the strategic importance of the alliance. He highlighted how the strengthened framework will empower government institutions to deliver high-performing digital services, leverage data responsibly, and deploy new AI innovations to meet evolving national needs.
Ghassan Kosta reiterated Google Cloud’s dedication to Qatar’s long-term transformation, stating that the Doha region continues to offer unmatched value through its intelligent cloud services, enterprise-grade security, and AI innovation ecosystem. The partnership, he added, “We will continue driving Qatar’s evolution into a dynamic, digitally empowered economy prepared for next-generation technological demands.”
The previous agreement produced substantial results, demonstrating Qatar’s growing appetite for AI transformation, digital modernization, and cloud-enabled public sector reform. By extending the MFA, MCIT and Google Cloud are reaffirming their shared commitment to cybersecurity excellence, data protection, and building a knowledge-based, innovation-driven national economy.
