Google Launches Workspace Studio

With the launch now generally available, Google expects Workspace Studio to become a key productivity engine for companies adopting AI-powered workplace automation.

Google has officially rolled out Workspace Studio, a new no-code AI automation platform designed to help users build, manage, and share custom AI agents across Google Workspace apps—including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, and Chat. Powered by Gemini 3, the tool aims to simplify workflow automation for businesses, boost productivity, and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.

What Is Google Workspace Studio?
Google Workspace Studio, announced on Thursday, lets employees create personalised AI-powered workflows without any coding skills. Using simple natural-language instructions, users can automate everyday tasks such as sorting and summarising emails, scheduling meetings and coordinating calendars, managing follow-ups and action items, prioritising important messages, and streamlining end-to-end project workflows — making workplace productivity faster, smarter, and more efficient.

Google says the goal is to eliminate the complexity of traditional automation tools and make AI-driven productivity accessible to everyone in an organisation.

How Workspace Studio Works
In its blog post, Google explained that Workspace Studio allows anyone to design AI agents by simply describing the task they want automated. Users can also choose from a growing library of prebuilt templates. The system then instantly generates the automation using Gemini’s multimodal understanding.

Unlike older rule-based systems, these agents can:

  • Analyse sentiment and context
  • Generate emails, documents, and summaries
  • Adapt as information changes
  • Trigger smart alerts
  • Work together for multi-step processes
  • Real-World Use Cases

Google shared an early case study from Kärcher, the global cleaning solutions giant, which used Workspace Studio with partner Zoi to create a collaborative team of AI agents for product innovation. In this setup, one agent evaluates new concepts, another assesses technical feasibility, a third drafts user flows, and a fourth generates full user stories—automating what was previously a lengthy manual process. According to them, this AI-driven workflow helped Kärcher cut drafting time by an impressive 90%, showcasing the platform’s potential for rapid, large-scale adoption across industries.

According to Google, businesses in its Gemini Alpha programme have already performed over 20 million automated tasks using Workspace Studio. These tasks range from basic reminders to complex workflows involving legal notices, travel approvals, and project reviews.
