All leadership appointments take effect December 1, 2025, with promotions active from January 1, 2026.
LG Electronics has announced major leadership changes for 2026, naming Lyu Jae-cheol as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2025. The move is part of LG’s wider strategy to accelerate innovation, strengthen its global competitiveness, and push forward its long-term transformation into a Smart Life Solutions powerhouse.
Lyu Jae-cheol to Lead LG’s Next Phase of Growth
Lyu, who successfully led the LG Home Appliance Solution (HS) Company, is known for driving sustainable growth through B2B expansion, subscription-based services, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) business models. With a strong R&D background—having joined Goldstar (LG) in 1989—he helped LG achieve global No.1 leadership in home appliances.
As CEO, Lyu will extend LG’s customer-centric DNA across all business units, focusing on premium appliances, AI-driven innovation, and global market expansion.
Leadership Transition from William Cho
Outgoing CEO William Cho steps down after 37 years at LG, having laid a solid foundation for LG’s shift beyond appliances into EV components, HVAC systems, commercial solutions, and emerging markets. Cho was instrumental in defining LG’s vision as a Smart Life Solution Company, integrating consumer experiences across connected devices, homes, mobility, and services.
To fast-track growth across its strongest B2B verticals, LG has elevated two key leaders to president roles: Eun Seok-hyun now serves as President of the Vehicle Solution (VS) Company, driving momentum in automotive components and mobility technologies, while James Lee has been promoted to President of the Eco Solution (ES) Company, where he will accelerate expansion in HVAC, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
These divisions will power LG’s global push in automotive components, HVAC, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable technologies.
2026 Organizational Restructure for Agility & Innovation
LG’s new structure aims to boost speed, decision-making, and execution across key business units:
