Uber to Build First India Data Centre in Partnership with Adani Group

Build First India Data Centre

Uber is setting up its first data centre in India in partnership with Adani Group, marking a major expansion of its global technology infrastructure. The project will be developed through AdaniConneX and is expected to become operational later this year.

The announcement was made by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi following his meeting with Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. The facility represents Uber’s first dedicated data infrastructure investment in India and reflects the company’s growing focus on strengthening its technology footprint in the country.

The upcoming data centre will support Uber’s global technology operations, including product development, testing, and deployment. It is also expected to enhance the company’s artificial intelligence and cloud computing capabilities by enabling faster experimentation and more efficient engineering workflows.

Uber’s decision to establish a data centre in India aligns with its broader strategy of distributing its engineering and computing infrastructure across key global regions. India, which already serves as a major engineering hub for the company, is becoming increasingly important in Uber’s product and technology development ecosystem.

The partnership also highlights the growing role of Adani Group in digital infrastructure through AdaniConneX. The group has been expanding aggressively into data centres, cloud infrastructure, and energy-linked digital ecosystems to support large-scale computing demand.

More broadly, the move reflects a wider trend of global technology companies investing in India’s data centre and AI infrastructure landscape. With rising demand for localized computing and increasing focus on data governance, India is emerging as a key destination for next-generation digital infrastructure investments.
