WhatsApp has announced a new set of group chat features aimed at making communication in large groups easier, more organized, and more expressive. The latest WhatsApp update introduces Member Tags, Text Stickers, and Event Reminders, giving users better tools to manage conversations, personalise messages, and plan activities within group chats.
These enhancements build on previously introduced features such as large file sharing, HD photo and video sharing, screen sharing, voice chats, and improved calling, further strengthening WhatsApp’s position as a leading messaging and collaboration app.
New WhatsApp Group Chat Features

With Member Tags, WhatsApp users can now assign themselves custom labels within specific group chats. These labels appear under a user’s name in message bubbles, making it easier to identify roles in large or purpose-driven groups.
For example, in a football group, a member can tag themselves as “Goalkeeper,” while in a work or school group, labels can reflect roles or responsibilities. These tags are group-specific, meaning users can have different labels in different groups without affecting their main profile.
Text Stickers for Personalised Conversations
WhatsApp is also introducing Text Stickers, allowing users to turn any word or phrase into a sticker directly from the Sticker Search bar. This feature makes conversations more fun and personal by letting users save frequently used expressions as stickers. Over time, users can create a custom sticker collection based on their most-used phrases, reactions, or inside jokes, adding a new level of creativity to group messaging.
Event Reminders for Group Planning
To simplify planning, WhatsApp now allows group members to create and share custom event reminders within group chats. Users can set reminders for meet-ups, birthdays, online meetings, classes, or group activities, ensuring everyone stays informed. The feature also supports custom reminder timings, helping group members keep track of upcoming events without relying on external apps or calendars.
