Viasat Confirms Successful Launch and Initial Signal Acquisition of ViaSat-3 F3

defense communications

Viasat, Inc. has successfully launched the ViaSat-3 F3 satellite and confirmed initial signal acquisition, marking a major milestone in its global satellite network strategy. The satellite was launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center and achieved orbit successfully, with signals received minutes after separation, confirming system health and readiness for operations.

The ViaSat-3 F3 satellite is designed to significantly enhance high-speed satellite internet and broadband connectivity across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. With a planned capacity of over 1 Terabit per second (Tbps), the satellite will support growing demand for reliable internet services, aerial connectivity, and maritime communications. Its advanced beamforming technology enables dynamic bandwidth allocation, ensuring efficient network performance optimization and improved spectral efficiency.

This launch completes the ViaSat-3 constellation, a next-generation satellite network infrastructure aimed at delivering scalable and resilient connectivity worldwide. With ViaSat-3 F1 already operational and F2 progressing through in-orbit testing, the addition of F3 strengthens Viasat’s ability to provide global broadband services, especially in underserved and high-demand regions.

The satellite is expected to play a crucial role in supporting aviation Wi-Fi, maritime internet services, defense communications, and remote connectivity solutions. Its flexible architecture allows bandwidth to be directed where demand is highest, making it ideal for enterprise connectivity, government operations, and commercial mobility markets.

Following launch, ViaSat-3 F3 will deploy its solar arrays and move into its final geostationary orbit before undergoing in-orbit testing and network integration. The satellite is expected to enter service later in 2026, further strengthening digital infrastructure and connectivity across India and the broader APAC region.

With increasing demand for secure, high-performance satellite internet and cloud-connected communications, the successful deployment of ViaSat-3 F3 positions Viasat at the forefront of next-generation satellite technology, global connectivity solutions, and digital transformation in telecommunications.
