Is Gemini Is Becoming More Context-Aware?
Google has officially begun rolling out its Personal Intelligence feature to users in India, marking a significant step toward more personalised and context-aware AI experiences. Initially introduced earlier in 2026, this capability is now being expanded to enhance how users interact with the Gemini app by integrating it deeply with everyday Google services.
The new feature connects Gemini with key Google apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search. This integration enables the AI assistant to deliver highly personalised responses by understanding user context across emails, images, videos, and search activity.
Personal Intelligence is designed as an opt-in feature, meaning it will remain disabled by default. Users must manually enable it and choose which apps to connect, ensuring full control over their data. According to Google, the system prioritises privacy by keeping sensitive data within its ecosystem. Importantly, Gemini does not train on personal Gmail or Photos data, although it may use prompt-based interactions to improve performance.
One of the standout capabilities of Personal Intelligence is its ability to reason across multiple data sources simultaneously. For instance, users can ask Gemini to pull booking details from emails, locate screenshots from their photo library, or even suggest places to visit based on content viewed on YouTube. This multi-modal intelligence allows the AI to deliver more accurate and context-rich responses.
The feature is currently being rolled out to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra users in India, with plans to extend availability to free-tier users in the coming weeks. It will be accessible across Web, Android, and iOS platforms, and will work seamlessly with all models available in the Gemini ecosystem.
With this rollout, Google is positioning Gemini as a deeply integrated personal AI assistant, capable of bridging information across apps and delivering smarter, more intuitive user experiences.
